Christina Aguilera wants ladies to see her new film “Burlesque” for its empowering female message. The Grammy award-winning singer attended the premiere of her film with co-star Cher at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood last night and stated that she had always been fascinated by the feminist component of the art of burlesque. “I have a collection of burlesque books at home that I’ve had for years. I’ve always been intrigued and fascinated with the topic, the beauty, and the art of it. I think it’s a really empowering thing for women,” said Aguilera.

The 29-year-old star also admitted that veteran singer Cher has comforted her through her recent troubles, including the dismal sales of her new record and her recent divorce from Jordan Bratman, who she has a 2-year-old son with.

“She didn't even have to open her mouth. She is just such an incredible presence and person,” the pop star said. “Been there and done everything before any of us came along. I admire and respect that truly. She gave me so much advice, both personally and professionally.” Read more.
